Grass Clippings Rolling Hills Opens Arizona’s First Night Golf Course

Night golf has made its debut in Arizona! Grass Clippings Rolling Hills in Tempe is the premier, 18-hole, par-3 golf course that is equipped with full illumination, making it the first of its kind in the state.

At any hour of the day, you can practice your golf technique — even in the dark of the night.

According to Jake Hoselton, the CEO of Grass Clippings, traditional golf has not been a game to play at night, unlike many other sports. Combining the ability to play the sport, with lights that illuminate the entire course, allows golf fans to play for more hours in the day.

The Valley is known as the “Mecca of Golf”, with a large concentration of golf courses within a 50-mile radius. There are over 370 golf courses in Arizona, however once the sun goes down, the course close and the ability to enjoy a favorite past time. However, after the installation of 78 light poles at the renovated Tempe course, the playing experience has now changed significantly.

At night, if you are looking for a chance to spend time with your friends while appreciating the desert sky, the moonlight, and the stars, or just take in a round after you’ve put in your hours at work, it’s an ideal situation for golf fans.

In the evening hours, the course is changed to a par-3, making it possible to finish playing nine or 18 holes much faster.

It is anticipated that night-time golf will last until late on weekdays, with sessions ending from 10-11 p.m., and even later on weekends, with play concluding between 12-1 a.m.

Renovations of the indoor facilities, such as the clubhouse, are in progress and it is anticipated that they will be ready for use sometime in December 2024.
