Police SUV Transporting Inmate Causes Deadly Blaze After Collision With Motorist in Phoenix

On Thursday morning in Phoenix, a crash between a police car and another vehicle resulted in a fatality. The police car was transporting a prisoner at the time of the accident.

At approximately 9 a.m., Phoenix Police Department reported that the collision of two vehicles at the intersection of 35th Avenue and Thunderbird Road had caused one vehicle to burst into flames.

Firefighters from the Phoenix Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the blaze. The individual in the car, who was unaccompanied, was declared dead at the scene.


The police reported that both the officer behind the wheel of the police SUV and the person being transported for alleged assault were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
