Judge Rules Cardinals’ Consent Is Required For VAI Garage Construction

In a recent ruling from the Superior Court of Arizona, the construction of a large parking garage in the vicinity of State Farm Stadium by the city of Glendale would require the consent of the Arizona Cardinals. The lot in question was under consideration by the city for the project.

A Maricopa County judge has declared that the proposed parking garage for the $1 billion VAI Resort development on the city’s black lot, would go against the agreement the city has with the Cardinals if it proceeds without their permission.

In the granted preliminary injunction sought by the Cardinals, the city is prohibited from issuing construction permits for the garage, modifying parking spaces, or making any operating agreement without the approval of the NFL team.

According to the city’s long-standing parking agreement, Glendale is responsible for supplying a large number of parking spots for significant stadium occasions. Additionally, any modifications to the parking lot located at 95th Avenue and Cardinals Way must be approved by the NFL team.

No additional information has been decided up on how VAI Resort will proceed.
