Avondale City Council Authorizes Plan For The BLVD

After months of hearings, the Avondale City Council has approved a plan for mixed-use development called ‘The BLVD’ (pronounced boulevard) according to a press release.

The BLVD will be located 356 acres south of Interstate 10, between 111th and 117th avenues. The project is formerly known as the Avondale City Center.

The BLVD will feature an array of restaurants, shops, entertainment, offices, and residential areas. It will be pedestrian friendly and also include a sports center, hotel, medical campus, performing arts center, and outdoor spaces.

“The plan was updated to reflect evolving market and other conditions, while fulfilling the Council’s vision and expectations for a quality unique and pedestrian-friendly area that will attract future development,” Jodie Novak, the city’s assistant director for Development and Engineering Services, said in the release.

Now that The BLVD has been authorized by City Council, incremental development to meet demands can begin.
