Weekend Freeway Closures

The state just recently experiencing a large list of highway closures up north due to weather, this weekend, valley motorists should be aware there are several freeways that will be restricted due to construction.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, a section of the Loop 101 Pima Freeway and a section of Interstate 10 will be closed.

In the northern part of the city, Westbound Loop 101 will be closed between Seventh Street and Interstate 17 from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

The westbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Cave Creek Road and the westbound on-ramps to both directions of Interstate 17 will also be closed.

To get around the closure, Westbound Loop 101 traffic can exit at Seventh Street and take the Beardsley frontage road. It is also advised to consider taking alternate routes such as Union Hills Drive or Deer Valley Road.

In the West part of town, Westbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane at 67th Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane at 59th Avenue from 7 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday.

Both closures are for the continued work on the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange.
