Scottsdale-based ATS Armor LLC, a body armor manufacturer, announced it has sold 500 of its active-shooter kits to the Miami-Dade Police Department. 

The armor kits consist of at least one front and one back torso hard-armor plate and a tactical carrying vest to be worn by the officers.

“Officers on the street today are facing an increasing threat from long-rifles compared to years past, and the protection for that threat requires hard armor,” said Thomas Smith, ATS chief executive officer and co-founder of Taser International Inc.

ATS Armor, a subsidiary of Achilles Technologies Solutions, develops, assembles and markets hard body armor for use in law enforcement and military markets.

Achilles Technologies Solutions is based in the Scottsdale Airpark at 7432 E. Tierra Buena Lane, Suite 101.
