Report Shows Arizona Case Count Nears 7,000 With 18 New Coronavirus Deaths

After one day of no new COVID-19 deaths reported in Arizona, Tuesday’s state health reports pushed the state’s coronavirus death total to 293 with 18 more COVID-19 deaths on Monday.

895 tests were completed in Arizona yesterday, resulting in 232 new positive cases reported. This brings the total number of positive cases in Arizona to 6,948.

Arizona reported deaths have fluctuated over the last week. Arizona health officials reported four consecutive days of at least 17 deaths last week, with  highs of 21 on both Tuesday and Wednesday. However, the number of deaths decreased over the weekend, with a total of nine deaths. Monday brought positive news of the first day of zero reported deaths in a month.

On Monday, state officials revealed a plan to boost testing for the coronavirus in Arizona. The program, called the Arizona Testing Blitz, is aimed to test 10,000-20,000 residents for COVID-19 over the next three Saturdays.

Governor Ducey’s stay-at-home order is set to expire on Thursday. Ducey is expected to announce this week whether he will extend or modify the current order.
