Phoenix Police Launched Investigation Into Discovery Of 2 Dead Bodies In Suspected Murder-Suicide

According to authorities, a woman was fatally shot by her boyfriend in north Phoenix on Sunday morning before he turned the gun on himself, resulting in both of their deaths.

Law enforcement officials found Ila Washington, 70, and Darryle Mooney, 59, following the establishment of a boundary and efforts to communicate with the attacker through a mobile device and loudspeaker in the vicinity of Central Avenue and Union Hills Drive.

At 8:45 a.m., authorities were alerted to a case of domestic violence and were informed that Mooney had murdered his girlfriend and was contemplating taking his own life with a firearm.


Authorities were able to gain entry into the residence after obtaining a search warrant. According to the investigation, it was found that the individual had shot himself prior to the arrival of the police.

Multiple witnesses were interviewed by the officers at the scene.

According to the authorities, the inquiry is still in progress as investigators continue to examine the specifics of the events that led to the heartbreaking incident.
