A Phoenix man has been arrested for allegedly driving to Georgia to pick up a young teen girl and sexually assaulting her.

27-year-old Blane Patterson is facing many charges after Phoenix Police Department officers arrested the suspect at his residence near 7th Street and McDowell Road on August 19.

Police reports state that Patterson is accused of meeting a Georgia teen girl through social media and grooming an inappropriate relationship with her for an estimated one year.

According to court documents, during their communication, the two exchanged inappropriate photos, videos, and live content. Patterson drove to Lafayette, Georgia, on July 28 to pick up the girl and bring her back to Phoenix.

When the girl was reported missing from a friend’s house in Georgia after a note she left behind suggesting she was suicidal and would be going with a person known to her family as deceased.

Patterson admitted to sexually assaulting the teen multiple times during the drive back to Phoenix from Georgia. He also admitted to assaulting her once arrived at his Phoenix home.

Police reports state that Patterson stated he traveled to Georgia to rescue the girl after she conveyed to him that she was being sexually abused by several people.

During a police interview with the teen, she did not discuss any previous sexual abuse in Georgia.

Patterson was arrested and booked into the Maricopa County Jail and is facing multiple charges, including sexual conduct with a minor, kidnapping, aggravated luring of a minor, and unlawful imprisonment.

The teen has been located and is safe. No additional details on her return have been made known.
