Much Better! The D-Backs Reveal New Uniforms

The Diamondbacks have had an interesting fall already. Arizona signed Red Sox Bench Coach Tory Lovullo earlier this month replacing former manager, Chip Hale. Friday morning, the team had a new surprise for baseball fans everywhere, new uniforms!

Yep, after one season with the team’s unique jerseys, The Diamondbacks unveiled new uniforms for the new season. Gone are the days of the bizarre, futuristic atrocities- sort of. The Diamondbacks revealed their latest creations at the D-Backs Celebrity Golf Tournament at Whirlwind Golf Club last week in Chandler. Team officials lined up mannequins with the all different threads the team will be donning during the 2017 campaign. The organization was flooded on social media with both support and criticism last year regarding the interesting designs.

The changes this upcoming season, while small will make the D-Backs look more like a true MLB team, rather than a weekend warrior beer- league softball team. The team opted to change the vertical pant leg half stripe to more of a traditional full length stripe. The numbers and letters were given a better outline to be more visible from the outfield bleachers. Overall, the small tweaks to the uniforms make them appear much more conservative.

The team also revealed some specialty uniforms for holidays. The Mother’s Day uniform is black, with a pink accent. The Father’s Day uniform is black, with a blue accent. The Memorial Day uniform is all white with a camouflage accent in the lettering and a digital camouflage patterned hat.

The Diamondbacks finished 4th in the National League West last season with a 69-93 record. If you believe in good omens, the new uniforms could be the sign of a fresh start and just what the doctor ordered for the D-Backs.

At least the good news for the Diamondbacks fans is that Goldy will still strike fear in pitchers around the major leagues, in whatever sort of uniforms the front office decides to run the team out onto the field in.
