Mesa Police Make Arrest In Murder of 18-Year-Old High School Student

The Mesa Police Department announced on Thursday that they have made an arrest on in the murder of an 18-year-old Red Mountain High School student.

18-year-old Peter Clabron III has been arrested for his involvement in the shooting of high school classmate and teammate Jeremiah Aviles.

On Sunday, May 7 around 2 a.m., officers responded to calls of shots fired near University Drive and Lindsay Road.


During the police investigations, authorities learned that Aviles and a witness were at Clabron’s residence when Aviles was shot. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators initially received information from the witness and Clabron, but it was later proved to be false information, as the two were attempting lead investigators to believe someone else was responsible for the shooting.

Mesa Police were able to get the witness to tell the truth, which resulting in pointing blame to Clabron.

Clabron was booked into jail on manslaughter and two counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm.
