MCSO Launch Investigation Following Discovery of Human Remains in Tonto National Forest

On Sunday morning, the Tonto National Forest was the site of an investigation by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, following the discovery of human remains.

According to authorities, a male individual notified them about possible fragments of a skeleton located to the west of milepost 216 on State Route 87. This specific area is situated south of Sunflower, approximately 56 miles from the city of Phoenix towards the east.

The identity of the remains has not been determined yet, and the reason for the death remains a mystery at this time.
