Maricopa County Animal Shelters Seeking Dog Foster Homes For Holidays As Shelters Are Maxed Out

Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (MCACC) is inviting Maricopa County residents to embrace the season of giving by giving a furry friend a warm home this winter for their 12 Days of Foster Event from Wednesday, December 13 to Sunday, December 24, 2023.

“MCACC is thrilled to be hosting the 12 Days of Foster Event,” said Communications Supervisor Kim Powell. “Fostering is a great way to help out a dog and give them a much-needed break from the shelter. Our Turkey Tasters foster event last month helped us learn important information about our dogs, and many of them found their forever homes!”

Fosters can pick up their “Paw-liday Pup Foster” during the 12 Days of Foster, which is Wednesday, December 13 to Sunday, December 24, 2023 at both shelter locations during our regular business hours.

“We encourage our fosters to help us find forever homes for these ‘Paw-liday Pups,'” said Powell. “You can have a holly-jolly time with a furry friend for the holiday season, but also give them the gift of finding a forever home.”

Potential fosters must complete a foster application before coming to the shelter to select an appropriate foster for their family to welcome for the holiday season. Potential foster dogs that are 6 months and older, already altered, and will display a “Paw-liday Pup” card so you can easily find them. Fosters will also go home with a Wag Bag full of supplies to spoil your holiday pup.

Fostering is a rewarding way to help animals in Maricopa County while they wait for their forever homes. Apply to become a foster here.
