Glendale To Celebrate Christmas in July

A hot day in July does not typically come to mind when thinking about Christmas cheer. The city of Glendale is altering that perception with their 10th annual Christmas in July celebration.

On July 9th, from 10am until 4pm, you can find early, but exclusive shopping deals on gifts and decorations, indulge in sweet treats, visit with Santa Claus, and more in historic downtown Glendale. Parking and admission to the Christmas in July celebration is free. Visitors are encouraged to make their first stop of the day at the Glendale Visitor Center located at 5800 W. Glenn Drive, suite 140. Here, you can pick up an event map and the first 250 visitors to the event center will receive a holiday themed gift.

Additionally, Murphy Park will be transformed into a winter wonderland for the day with eight tons of snow. Last year was the first year Glendale brought in snow for the celebration and the first time many of their local children had the opportunity to experience it. Visitors, who would like to frolic in the snow, should plan to arrive earlier in the day.


After experiencing the snow, free Ollie the Trolley rides will take you around the area. Trolley rides will make stops at the Cerreta Candy Company, where you can make your first chocolate holiday treats of the year for just $1. After a short ride across downtown, you can visit with Santa Claus at Glendale Flowers. Children can drop off their Christmas lists early and parents can purchase photos, or take photos with their own cameras. Other shops in the area will be in the Christmas sprit with music, merchandise, decorations, and holiday menu options.

While admission and parking is free, Christmas in July is featuring a bottled water drive. Donations of bottled water are encouraged and are being accepted at the event as well as the Glendale fire stations.

Christmas in July brings the holiday spirit to Glendale, but also provides a cheerful atmosphere for families to spend time together.
