Law enforcement has arrested a driver who is believed to have fatally struck a female jogger in New River and then left the scene back in February. After a long investigation, the suspect has been taken into custody.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, a pickup truck struck 43-year-old Lisa Mancuso while she was jogging near 7th Avenue and Cloud at 10 a.m. on Feb. 24. Mancuso was declared deceased at the scene.

On March 18, Jacob Moore, 21,  surrendered himself to the authorities for his involvement in a fatal collision. He was taken into custody and charged with manslaughter and failure to stop at the scene of the accident.

According to investigators, the truck responsible for the accident was eventually located and its registration indicated that it belonged to a member of law enforcement.
According to MCSO Sheriff Russ Skinner, “Our Vehicular Crimes Detectives have worked around the clock for the past few weeks to bring justice for the Mancuso family,” MCSO Sheriff Russ Skinner said. “While I understand this is a difficult situation for everyone involved, I’m proud of our detectives and support personnel in processing the evidence to bring closure to this investigation. MCSO will remain committed to providing educational programs and enforcement services to address traffic safety throughout Maricopa County.”
