Suspect in Custody After Shooting Gun on Arizona State University Campus

Arizona State University Police Department reported that a man was taken into custody after firing shots on the Tempe campus early Thursday morning.

ASU Police Officers received reports around 1:30 a.m. of someone with a gun near Barrett Honors College near Apache Boulevard and Rural Road.

When police arrived on scene, they alerted those in the area to shelter in place. The suspect fired multiple shots and then fled. However, police were able to apprehend the male quickly.


Police said they found a gun at the scene. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

ASU PD have reported that the suspect was not affiliated with the school.

The shelter-in-place orders were lifted, around 5 a.m.
