Supreme Court Overturns Roe v. Wade

The U.S. Supreme Court has overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade case that legalized abortion nationwide. The move now allows states to determine if abortions will be allowed.

The 5-4 ruling marks is expected to set off a ferocious political fight nationwide as politicians, state-by-state and voters weigh in on whether abortion should be restricted or prohibited entirely.

It is expected that half of the states will to seek to quickly enforce laws that make most abortions illegal.

The ruling on a case known as Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization sets in motion a series of events that lead to this ruling.  Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization challenged the constitutionality of a Mississippi bill that banned abortion after 15 weeks.

This is a developing story that will be updated.
