Second DUI Suspect Arrested After First DUI Suspect’s Vehicle Careens Down 200-Foot Embankment

In Arizona, authorities reported that a car driven by a suspected DUI offender plunged down a 200-foot slope on Saturday morning. Shortly after, police arrest a second suspected DUI offender near the site of the crash.

According to a press release from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy observed a car driving recklessly on Main Street in Cottonwood at approximately 2 a.m. The deputy initiated a traffic stop.

The car, traveling at a high speed and veering over the center line, suddenly made a turn onto Highway 260 and switched off its headlights.

According to the YCSO, the individual drove the car at a speed of 100 mph before losing control and sliding down the road, finally coming to a stop at the embankment.

At around the middle point of the incident, a 22-year-old man from Cottonwood was thrown out of the vehicle and sustained severe injuries, potentially including a fracture in his neck.

A man was transported to a hospital by helicopter, which landed on Highway 260.

During the helicopter loading of the suspect by emergency personnel, a car attempted to make its way on the closed highway’s shoulder and pass the accident scene.

Authorities pulled over the vehicle and took into custody the operator, a 51-year-old man from Camp Verde, for allegedly driving under the influence.
