Roommate Accused of Killing Elderly Cordes Lake Man

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s office, a senior citizen residing in Cordes Lake, AZ was killed and his roommate has been accused of committing the crime.

YCSO received a request for a welfare check at the residence of a 93-year-old man named Carl Miller around 10 p.m. on Friday night. It had been a few days since anyone had seen or heard from him.

The deputies first spoke with Bridget Nelson, who is Miller’s 59-year-old roommate. She informed them that Miller had left town and she was unaware of his whereabouts.

Upon informing YCSO about Nelson’s statement, the initial caller also mentioned that Miller’s truck was still present in the driveway and apparently not functional.

Upon their return to the residence, YCSO approached Nelson for questioning. However, they received no response and instead, they observed an unmoving man lying on the ground.

After numerous requests, Nelson left the residence.

After entering the home, detectives discovered Miller’s body. According to reports, Miller had been deceased for at least 24 hours.

The YCSO did not provide further details on the specific circumstances of the man’s death. However, they stated that Miller met a violent end, and his injuries suggested that foul play was involved.

Nelson was arrested and is being accused of committing first-degree murder.
