Phoenix Toddler Fatally Struck By Family Member Moving SUV

A 1-year-old boy in Phoenix passed away on Sunday after being struck by an SUV.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, law enforcement officials were dispatched to the scene of an accident at approximately 3 p.m. in the vicinity of 45th Street and Broadway Road.

Legend Hayes’s family was administering medical assistance to the child when officers arrived. When the fire department arrived to the scene, they took over administrating life saving measures until he was transported to a nearby hospital. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away.


According to authorities, witnesses reported that a child was struck by an SUV.

The police report details that a member of Hayes’ family was operating the SUV on the premises when it hit the child. The police stated that the driver thought Hayes’ was in the house before moving the vehicle.

Impairment is not suspected in this situation, the driver showed no signs of intoxication.

There have been no arrests made. An investigation is still underway.
