Phoenix Dog Dies After Being Soaked in Gasoline and Set On Fire

In central Phoenix, a sleeping dog was doused with gasoline and set on fire. A reward of $1,000 is being offered for any information on the suspect responsible for this cruel act.

According to Silent Witness, Duke, a 16-year-old Pit Bull/Mastiff mix, was resting in his backyard on Tuesday morning when an anonymous individual poured gasoline on him around 5:30 a.m. The perpetrator proceeded to set both Duke and his mattress ablaze, causing the dog to suffer from severe burns.

The event took place close to the intersection of 27th Avenue and Washington Street.


According to Silent Witness, the burns that Duke suffered resulted in him  having to be euthanized.

Authorities are asking if anyone has knowledge of this heinous act of animal abuse, they are urged to contact Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS. There is a reward of up to $1,000.00 for any information that leads to the arrest of the suspect(s) in this case.
