Northern Arizona Wildfire Rages On, Prompting Unusual November Closures

The Coconino National Forest reported that the Maid Fire, which is situated approximately 100 miles north of Phoenix close to Stoneman Lake, had consumed 543 acres as of Monday.

An emergency closure has been implemented by the Red Rock Ranger District in Sedona due to the fire. A comprehensive list of road closures can be found on the website and will remain in effect until the end of the month, unless it is revoked in advance.

At approximately 5 a.m. Saturday, a wildfire believed to have been caused by a human was reported.

Monday saw no containment of the fire that was raging across the rugged and rocky landscape.

Roughly eighty personnel are engaged in fighting the fire.
