There’ll be a new way to have fun in the summer in Gilbert next year. A water park resort, called The Strand @ Gilbert, is opening in the summer of 2020.

The new attraction with have a sand beach, water skiing, surfing, wakeboarding, bungalows, and restaurant and bar — among other amenities.

The surfing, skiing, and wakeboarding will take place in the facility’s three lagoons.

“We are excited to bring this new amenity to not only Gilbert but to the entire region,” says Mayor Jenn Daniels.

“We look forward to working with our partners on The Strand @ Gilbert to ensure that we all have a fun and safe place to play and enjoy for all ages year-round.”

The water park will be built near the new Gilbert Regional Park, which begins opening in September 2019.

“The Strand @ Gilbert has worked tirelessly with numerous different manufacturers throughout the world to bring the newest and most innovative technologies in water sports activity and amenities to Gilbert Regional Park,” says John McLaughlin, the CEO of the company that owns the park.

According to the city of Gilbert, the town isn’t contributing money to the venture, and it won’t affect resident water supplies.

The location in Gilbert is the first of many similar resorts planned to open nationwide.
