Minnesota Man Dies in Ski Accident at Arizona Snowbowl

Yesterday brought tragic news out of Flagstaff. A 61-year-old Minnesota man is dead after a skiing accident at Arizona Snowbowl on Tuesday, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed.

The man, identified as Michael Amiot, died after sustaining serious head trauma while skiing the Phoenix run shortly around 9:45 a.m. He was not wearing a helmet.

Amiot was transported by ski patrol to the Agassiz Lodge where life-saving measures were attempted by medical personnel for around 30 minutes. He was pronounced dead at the scene.


Amiot’s body was taken to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death and an investigation into the incident is underway by the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident remains under investigation.
