A Mesa father is recovering after being shot in the back by his three-year-old child.
Late Tuesday morning, Mesa police were called to a residence near University Drive and Gilbert Road for reports of a shooting.
Authorities report that the victim’s three-year-old got a hold of a gun, fired, and accidentally struck the father in the back.
The man was taken to the hospital for treatment. The father’s injuries are not life-threatening.
The shooting remains under investigation. No further details were released.
