Mesa Home on Broadway Impacted by Valley Metro Bus Accident

Mesa city officials reported that a Valley Metro bus collided with a home on Monday night resulting in a multi-vehicle incident.

The crash occured around 7 p.m. near Broadway Road and Stapley Drive. Police report the crash happened after a Dodge truck ran a stop sign and crashed into the left front of the bus at Broadway and Spencer street. The collision triggered the bus to veer left, cross all eastbound lanes of traffic and ended with the bus crashing into several cars before coming to a rest after crashing into a home in the area. It was reported that the front of the house suffered structural damage. Additionally, a number of vehicles, including a U-Haul, that were parked in the area were also impacted.

The crash involved eight individuals were brought to the medical facility. Six of victims were on the bus and two victims who were inside the residence at the time of the accident. None of the injuries were severe. Three other victims were given attention on scene, but they chose not to be taken to the hospital.


Before the fire and police personnel could arrive on scene, the driver and passenger of the truck that hit the bus, a man and a wonan, fled the area. Officers are searching for a the truck.
