Homebuilder Plans Project on Scottsdale Motor Mile

A New Jersey-based homebuilder is seeking Scottsdale approval for a housing subdivision along the city’s fading McDowell Motor Mile.

K. Hovnanian Homes wants to build a 55-lot community southwest of McDowell and 70th Street.

Car dealerships have been moving off McDowell for close to a decade to locations with freeway access.

K. Hovnanian Homes has about a dozen subdivisions across the Valley, including million dollar homes near Pinnacle Peak in Scottsdale.

The proposed subdivision on McDowell called Skye would be built on an 8-acre site with a 62-foot setback from the homes to the south along Loma Linda Drive.

The property is west of the former Papago Inn Best Western.

SkySong: The ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center at McDowell and Scottsdale roads has sparked redevelopment in southern Scottsdale.

SkySong includes residential development and Mark Taylor added San Travesia, a 572-unit gated apartment in 2014 just east of SkySong.
