Hiker From Sedona Found Dead In Utah Canyon

A Sedona woman was found dead on a Utah hiking trail Friday afternoon.

Bryce Canyon National Park officials confirmed that they were made aware of the “missing hiker” Friday evening.  Jeanne Roblez Howell, 64 years-old, had not returned from an early afternoon hike along the Fairyland Loop trail.

Park officials started a search of the area and found her body hours later in Campbell Canyon, about one mile east of the Fairyland Loop.

Officials report there had been heavy rain and a thunderstorm in the northern area of the park that afternoon, resulting in flash flooding in the area of the Fairyland Loop trail.

Initial investigations have not yet confirmed if storms or flooding were the cause of Howell’s death.
