Gila County K-9 Busts Women Transporting Fentanyl, Crystal Meth

On September 16th 2023 Deputy Montijo conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle traveling northbound on highway 87 due to multiple civil moving violations.

After making contacting with the female driver and female passenger who were residents of Oklahoma, he observed several inconsistencies with their travel plans. He believed the two were involved in criminal activity.  The officer initiated a search of the vehicle with the assistance of K9 Whiskey.

Whiskey alerted and told the officer what he had been suspecting. The stop resulted in the seizure of 42 pounds of Blue M-30 suspected Fentanyl laced pills, crystal methamphetamine, $2,000 in cash and a handgun. The estimated destination street value of the recovered drugs amount to approximately 4 million dollars.


Deputy Montijo and K-9 Whiskey played a vital role in taking dangerous drugs off the streets of Arizona.
