Dixie Chicks MMXVI Tour Comes to Phoenix

Reuniting for a North American tour for the first time in 10 years, The Dixie Chicks are halfway through a tour across the states. The MMXVI tour kicked off June 1 in Cincinnati, Ohio and will finish October 10 in Los Angeles. The Dixie Chicks will play this Sunday, July 17 at Ak-Chin Pavilion in Phoenix at 7pm with openers Augustana and Smooth Hound Smith. Tickets are available at Ticket Master.

Having taken a hiatus from both touring and album recording, Dixie Chicks Natalie Maines and sisters Emily Robison and Martie Maguire expanded their tour dates due to massive fan demand. Since forming in 1989 in Dallas, Texas, The Dixie Chicks have had much commercial success including hits like “There’s Your Trouble” and “Wide Open Spaces”. Their last album, 2006’s Taking the Long Way, won five Grammy Awards including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year for the song “Not Ready to Make Nice.” This brings The Dixie Chicks to a total of 13 Grammy Awards and 30.5 million albums sold making them the top selling all-female band and biggest selling country group in the U.S.

The MMXVI tour originally began as a European tour, starting in Amsterdam on April 20 of this year but with fan demand and the popularity of the group in the U.S., the tour was extended to North America with over forty shows in the United States and Canada. This is The Dixie Chicks fifth headlining tour and includes Dixie Chick classics, re-worked songs, and covers.
