Chandler Police Arrest Man For Allegedly Assaulting Elementary School Student Waiting For Bus

Chandler Police have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a child after luring him away from a school bus stop.

The morning of July 29, 2022 Chandler Police were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 2200 block of North McQueen Road regarding a report of a child molestation. Officers arrived and learned an unknown male suspect, described wearing a blue shirt and blue pants, had taken a juvenile in the area of a school bus top, behind a building and committed child molestation. Police also learned the unknown male suspect was driving a golf cart.

Information regarding the unknown suspect on the golf cart led Chandler Police detectives to various investigation leads. Detectives later conducted a neighborhood canvass in hopes of locating the suspect.


Detectives obtained DNA from the investigative leads and later sent them to the Arizona Department of Public Safety Forensic Lab for testing.

On September 7th, Chandler PD received the DNA results from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, identifying Jesus Jorge Delcampo, one of the apartment complex maintenance workers and investigative leads, as the suspect in the case.

Chandler Police arrested Delcamp in Peoria on September 8. Delcampo was booked into the Maricopa County jail faces two counts of molestation of a child and one count of kidnapping. Both are class two felonies.
