Bullhead City police have arrested a man they believe beat his disabled mother to death.

27-year-old Joseph Houston was booked in the Mohave County Jail, on charges of killing his 55-year-old mother Janice Houston.

On Friday, police received a call at 2:45 p.m. about a domestic violence incident at a home in Bullhead City.

Responding officers found Houston badly beaten. She was immediately transported to the hospital where she was later died.

Her son, Joseph Houston, was identified as the suspect in the beating and was taken into custody outside of the home.

Police reports show that a family member told police her son had assaulted his mother on Thursday. On Friday, he returned and was denied entrance to the home. The family member said he threw a rock through a sliding glass door. The relative ran to a nearby store to call for help.

Police have not said what prompted the attack.

Joseph Houston was booked on charges of first-degree murder.

Bullhead City police are still investigating the case. No further details have been released.
