Another Arizona Baby Tests Positive For Fentanyl

Within a week’s time, a second valley infant has been exposed and tested positive for fentanyl.

Emergency crews were called to a home on West Monona Drive, near 35th Avenue and Deer Valley Road, around 10 a.m. Wednesday. Officers reported that the infant boy was lethargic and was rushed to a hospital in north Phoenix.

Hospital tests confirmed the child tested positive for fentanyl. Police reports detailed that the boy’s father came to the hospital from work and informed officers the child’s mother has a history of fentanyl abuse.

An investigation is under way and the Department of Child Safety will assume custody of the child during the process. The infant’s current condition is unknown, authorities reported he is expected to survive. No arrests have been made yet.
