American Airlines Now Offers Nonstop Flights to London

You can now fly from Phoenix to London without any stops. American Airlines launched the new flight on Sunday.

Phoenix officials met at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to welcome the first flight from London.

“This is a really exciting day in Phoenix and in Arizona, because it’s the first time that American Airlines has ever flown a nonstop flight over the ocean,” said the assistant aviation director at the Phoenix airport, Debbie Ostreicher.

“This flight came in from London’s Heathrow Airport today and landed in Phoenix and turned around and went back, nonstop, Phoenix to London.”

Passengers on the new flight will fly on the Boeing 777-200ER. The plane can fly up to 273 people, and flyers can choose between: business class, premium economy, and main cabin service.

The flights will happen daily, leaving London at 9:30 a.m. and arriving in Phoenix at 12:30 p.m. It will leave Phoenix at 3:10 p.m. and arrive in London at 9:25 a.m.

Ostreicher said there was high demand for flights between Phoenix and Europe.

American Airlines and British Airways will offer 14 flights each week between London and Phoenix.

“This is really exciting, not only for our community and for our state, but the entire region,” said Ostreicher.
