McCarthy Building Companies Inc. will be in charge of the project that is expected to begin in May 2019 and conclude in the first quarter of 2022.

The project’s architects will be SmithGroup and Corgan.
With the concourse being added, eight new Southwest Airlines will follow and so will new facilities that will help in serving travelers and supporting long-term airline activity. The terminal is the largest in the airport and through 86 gates handles over 80 percent of the passenger traffic.
In 2017, the airport served approximately 44 million passengers.
Included in the new concourse will be roughly 130,000 square feet that consists of shell spaces for retail and food and beverage concessions. There will also be a new connector bridge that will span Sky Harbor Blvd. and a new transfer bridge.
The project will also feature terminal processor improvements, expansion of the existing checkpoint D, additional ticket counters, and new baggage handling systems along with an additional a baggage claim carousel to support the additional gates and associated travelers.
