3 Homicide Suspects From Washington State Arrested in Arizona

A woman and her two sons wanted for the killing of her husband in Washington were arrested in Arizona on Monday.

In a press release, the U.S. Marshals Service said 55-year-old Brenda Rasmussen, 31-year-old Danny Jones and 34-year-old Andrew Jones were booked into the Mohave County Detention Center and will be extradited back to Washington to face charges in the murder of the woman’s husband, Jerry Rasmussen in Stevens County in September of 2021.

Authorities said initially, Rasmussen reported her husband as a missing person to the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office. The victim was shot once in the head and then buried under a shed.

A cadaver dog during the investigation alerted authorities to a newly installed shed on the property, with a search warrant issued in December revealing a decomposing body buried in the concrete matching the victim.

During an investigation, a cadaver dog was brought to the family residence and alerted authorities by a newly installed shed on the property. On December 1st, after a search warrant was issued, authorities found a decomposing body buried in the concrete matching the victim.

By the time the body was discovered, the three suspects had fled the state of Washington and an arrest warrants were issued for each of them.

On Jan. 28 U.S. Marshals received detailed information that Rasmussen and her sons were staying in Mohave County. Surveillance was set in place as authorities attempted to locate the three fugitives.

Once the suspects were confirmed, Rasmussen and her two sons were arrested with search warrants on the place of business and residence connected with the suspects.
