Officials with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say that an officer was shot on the night of February 9. The officer was taken to the hospital following the shooting.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night in the Verde Valley area near Cherry Creek Road in Camp Verde. The shooting happened after the officer got into an altercation with a suspect.

The officer was found around 7:45 p.m. and was flown to HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center. YCSO recently released information that the officer is currently in critical condition.

YCSO officials the suspect fled on foot. Multiple law enforcement agencies from Yavapai County, detectives and SWAT are searching for the shooter. Residents in the area should consider the suspect armed and dangerous.
