Warning From FDA Regarding Imitation Eye Drops

An advisory has been issued by the Food and Drug Administration to caution the general public against the use of unapproved eye drops that have packaging resembling that of Bausch + Lomb’s Lumify brand eye drops.

The FDA has stated that it is possible for customers to confuse imitation items with Bausch + Lomb’s Lumify eye drops. It has been noted that the packaging of South Moon, Rebright, and FivFivGo products bears a strong resemblance to Lumify, and that certain imitation products may even have the “Bausch + Lomb” label on the top of their packaging.

According to the FDA, these eye drops make false claims of treating glaucoma.

According to the FDA, the presence of Burkholderia cepacia complex in South Moon eye drops has been confirmed. The FDA warns that this bacteria may cause an infection that is resistant to antibiotics.

The FDA conducted tests which revealed that Rebright and South Moon eye drops do not contain brimonidine tartrate, which is a key ingredient found in Lumify.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated that they were incapable of conducting tests on FivFivGo samples.

According to officials, there have been no reports of negative responses. However, as a precaution, the FDA is advising individuals to dispose of these items.

Lumify is a type of eye drop that can be purchased without a prescription and is designed to alleviate redness caused by minor irritation in the eye.
