State Farm Closes Tacoma Call Centers

State Farm is making significant changes to its workforce, and that may affect locals here in Arizona. The insurance giant who employs over 65,000 workers will close two Washington sites later this year.

Both of the affected sites are Tacoma call centers and will result in relocation or job loss for 1,400 workers.

150 jobs will be moving to State Farm’s Phoenix Hub while 600 positions will be reassigned to the DuPont office. Current employees will have the opportunity to transfer to one of the company’s other locations. However, that leaves at least 400 workers will be out of work.

George Jacob Mecherle first opened State Farm in 1922. The main headquarters is located in Bloomington, Illinois. Their main hubs are in Atlanta, Dallas, and Phoenix. State Farm is thirty third on the Fortune 500 list of largest corporations.
