After discovering that the accelerator pedal may become stuck, Tesla has issued a recall of ther 2024 Cybertrucks to prevent potential instances of unintended acceleration and reduce the likelihood of accidents.
According to a report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 3,878 Tesla Cybertrucks have an issue with the interior trim which may trap and dislodge the accelerator pedal pad.
The recall involves Cybertrucks manufactured between Nov. 13, 2023 and April 4, 2024 with a model year of 2024.
According to the NHTSA, Tesla was not informed of any incidents, harm, or fatalities associated with the matter as of Monday.
Tesla has announced that it will provide complimentary replacements or repairs for the accelerator pedal assembly. To avail of this service, owners can reach out to Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752 and refer to the recall number SB-24-33-003.
Vehicle owners can anticipate receiving notification letters via mail starting in June.
In November, the company finally handed over the initial batch of its advanced Cybertruck trucks to buyers, a delay of two years from the initial timeline. There remains uncertainty surrounding the start of mass production.
