The office of Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced today the sentencing of Adan Ivan Munoz Espinoza (11/86) to 7 years in prison as a result of an undercover sting operation.

In January of this year, the Phoenix Police Department began an undercover investigation in which a detective went online posing as a 16-year-old girl. Espinoza invited the “girl” to engage in sex with him and offered $80 for the act. He even made arrangements to meet the “child” at a nearby store.

At the time of the arrest, Espinoza had with him the cell phone he used to contact the undercover detective posing as the girl.

Last month, a jury found Espinoza guilty of one count of child sex trafficking. Upon release, Espinoza will be required to register as a sex offender.

“We are grateful for the hard work and collaboration with law enforcement on this case,” shared Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell. “By holding Espinoza accountable for his actions, our prosecutors have made Maricopa County a safer place for all, especially for our children.”
