Northern Arizona University Ranks No.1 For Social Media Engagement

In a study to see the effectiveness of social media among the leading universities of the U.S, the Northern Arizona University has been ranked number one!

The ranking was given by Rival IQ and Up&Up. The related study has been described as “the first ever study of the effectiveness of social media across leading universities in the United States.” Social media engagement included Twitter, Facebook and Instagram posts.

More than 338 institutions of higher education (colleges and universities) were included in the study. Rival IQ, a provider of social media analytics, used its software to analyze university-level account posts starting from June 2015 to May 2016. Up&Up, a marketing agency for higher education, used its expertise in order to rank the effectiveness of the social media posts, provide results after a deep analysis and then highlight the best practices.

According to the Northern Arizona University President Rita Cheng, “The success of NAU always comes back to people and place. That’s true not only for those who visit campus, but also for our online interactions. There’s something about NAU and Flagstaff that captures the imagination and makes people feel comfortable. I’m proud that our social media reflects that personality.”

The top 5 overall colleges and universities for social media engagement are:
1. Northern Arizona University
2. Clemson University
3. U.S. Naval Academy
4. University of Dayton
5. Saint Joseph’s University

The Chief executive officer at Up&Up, Adam Landrum, said that, “Using Rival IQ’s powerful and easy cloud solution, we were able to measure and analyze success across hundreds of social media accounts across multiple platforms. When it comes to social engagement, especially on Instagram and Twitter, higher education outperforms the benchmark set by non-education social media accounts with similar audiences. Now we’ve got the data to reveal which strategies drive the most engagement.”

The Northern Arizona University was also recently recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy for efficient use of lighting.
