Mother and Caretaker Arrested After 9-Day-Old Baby Dies in Page

Page Police have arrested two women in connection with the death of a newborn.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, an infant was brought to the emergency room of a Page hospital.

The infant died shortly after the arrival to the hospital.

According to police, it is unclear what led to the infant’s death. However, evidence suggested the infant was severely neglected.

In a joint investigation with the sheriff’s office in Utah’s Kane County, Page Police officials said the baby’s mother, Jessica Seiser, and the baby’s caretaker, Nancy Bell were arrested. Both have been booked into a Coconino County Holding Facility in Page, and accused of felony child abuse.

The infant was taken to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be performed. The investigation is ongoing. No further information was immediately available.
