The opening of the first restaurant from McDonald’s spin-off CosMc’s is coming soon to Illinois, but there is still speculation as to the type of food it will offer.

Construction on the CosMc eatery in Bolingbrook, IL is nearly complete. Officials signs have been installed on a building at the new restaurant in suburban area of  Chicago. CosMcs, is reportedly a play on the name of a nostalgic classic McDonald’s alien mascot figure that sports yellow and purple colors. As seen in pictures snapped of the newly constructed building, the new restaurant’s design is adorned with purple and yellow.

McDonald’s has not officially announced what will be on the CosMc’s menu, however, it has been reported by Scott Fredrickson, a local citizen who took photos of the menu that the restaurant will offer various drinks, snacks, frozen treats, and baked goods. At this point it is not certain if the menu that was posted at the location is real or fake.

There is speculation that the restaurant will rival Starbucks will offerings of coffee drinks and snacks similar to those already at a McCafe. The photos suggest the drive-thru menu offers a variety of drinks, such as teas and lemonades, coffees, slushies, frappes, and signature Galactic Boosts. For example, a Turmeric Spiced Latte, Churro Frappe, and Sour Cherry Energy Burst. Along with beverages, food items like a Spicy Queso Sandwich, Creamy Avocado Tomatillo Sandwich, Pretzel Bites, and Savory Hash Brown Bites are also available. Additionally, the menu appears to bring back all-day breakfast options, such as the Egg McMuffin, Bacon McMuffin with Egg, and Sausage McMuffin with Egg. Classic McFlurry flavors were also included.

In July, Chris Kempczinski, the CEO of the restaurant, made public their designs when the company revealed that the 10.3 percent surge in sales was caused by the Grimace Birthday shake that had gone viral.

Kempczinski has commented that CosMc’s is a concept with the same intrinsic qualities as McDonald’s, yet will have its own distinct character.

CosMc has made its reappearance following the major role of its counterpart mascot Grimace in June, when McDonald’s released the Grimace Birthday shake, which became popular on TikTok.

When does CosMc’s open?

While an exact opening date has yet to be shared by the company, Kempczinsk initially has said more information will become available at the company’s Investor Day at the end of the December. An initially opening is expected to be early 2024.
