McDonald’s Announces Plans to Add A Brand-New McFlurry Flavor

McDonald’s is mixing something new up. After the wildly successful month-long promotion of McDonald’s Grimace Shake, they are adding something new to their menu, just in time for the hot summer months.

On Wednesday, McDonald’s announced plans to add a brand-new McFlurry to their dessert lineup: The Peanut Butter Crunch McFlurry. The peanut-buttery treat will be rolling out at their locations nationwide starting August 9th.

The new Peanut Butter Crunch McFlurry is made with McDonald’s signature vanilla soft serve, blended with a crispy cereal mix and chocolaty peanut butter cookie pieces which creates a salty-sweet treat. The new McFlurry flavor will be available for a limited time, while supplies last.

This flavor is a nice welcome back as one of Mickey D’s original McFlurry flavors, the Resse’s McFlurry, was discontinued in 2012.

Social media is reportedly already a buzz with excitement and initial positive feedback of the new treat flavor. Customers are excited to give it a try.

This news comes on the heels of complaints heard around the country of the hamburger chains regular occasions of broken ice cream machines. A few months ago, the internet was buzzing about the conspiracy of their ice cream machine break downs regularly due to manufacturers programming and the prevention of chain owners from fixing the machine problem themselves. Being dependent on the companies who supply the machines to fix seems to be the issue.

The concern escalated to the point that the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) reached out to McDonald’s franchisees last summer to inquire about the concern. Reportedly the result found that owners of McDonald’s chains said the McFlurry devices that blend their soft serve ice cream with add-ins mixtures, are overly complicated and hard to fix when they break down.

We can hope that when McDonald’s is ready to roll out this new flavor, their machines are all up and running.
