Breaking news out of Chandler Monday morning

Chandler police report that a man is dead after he allegedly kidnapped and then fled from police early Monday morning.

Officers were called around midnight with reports of a possible kidnapping near the Filibertos off Ocotillo Road and Arizona Avenue in Chandler. They were told that a woman had been taken from a car and pushed into a truck before the truck took off from the scene.

Police were able to locate the vehicle driving on several side streets at a high rate of speed. The truck eventually pulled into an apartment complex west of Arizona Avenue along Germann Road.  As officers pulled up to the truck, police say the man suddenly stopped the vehicle and the woman ran from the tuck, towards the officer. The man reportedly got out of his truck, pulled out a gun, and took his own life.

Details on what led up to the incident are still under investigation. At this time, it is not clear if the suspect and victim knew each other.
