A male body was discovered at a southwest Valley landfill on Wednesday, prompting a police investigation in Phoenix.

According to a press release, the Buckeye police department responded to a call at approximately 11:30 a.m. at the Republic Services Southwest Regional Landfill on State Route 85, where a body had been discovered.

Officers are working to identify the remains. An autopsy will be performed by the medical examiner’s office to determine the cause and manner of death.

There is currently no additional information available. An investigation remains ongoing.
