Human Remains Identified in Golden Valley

Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Detectives have positively identified a previously reported missing Arizona man.

Using advanced DNA testing and Forensic-Grade Genome Sequencing, Othram Inc. was able to identify the human remains as belonging to Brian Crain, 56 of Golden Valley. Crain was reported missing by a family member on September 17, 2020 after the family had not heard from Crane after several weeks.

The human remains were located by a citizen on January 18, 2021 in the area of Dewey Rd. and Agua Fria Dr. in Golden Valley. The remains were collected and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office, who was unable to positively identify the victim.

On February 21, 2023, Special Investigations Unit Detectives contacted Othram Inc. and requested their assistance. A DNA sample was submitted to conduct a genetic genealogy investigation, which resulted in the positive identification. Due to the state of the remains when they were located, an official cause of death was not able to be determined.
