Ford Halts Production Of F-150 Lightning Due To Battery Concern

If you have been looking forward to purchasing the 2023 MotorTrend Truck of the Year, you might have to wait a little longer.

Ford has stopped production on their electric pickup, the  F-150 Lightning. Reportedly, Ford is concerned at a potential problem with the truck’s battery.

“As part of our predelivery quality inspections, a vehicle displayed a potential battery issue and we are holding vehicles while we investigate,” Ford said in a statement to The New York Times. “We are not aware of any incidences of this issue in the field.”

The popular truck has earned high marks in several categories, including design, efficiency, performance and safety. The Lightning has proven to be a popular vehicle for Ford, which had to cap orders at 200,000 because the demand was so high on the truck.

Ford has not said when production is expected to resume.
