Football Schedule For Big 12 Announced, Featuring Addition of Arizona and Arizona State

The Big 12 conference has announced the football schedule for the 2024 season, which will be the conference’s inaugural season without the prominent teams of Texas and Oklahoma, who are moving to the Southeastern Conference.

The 16-team league now includes new additions Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah, with Colorado making a comeback.

All teams in the league will still participate in nine conference games, and there will be no divisional separation. This will allow for the revival of past rivalries that were lost during previous realignments, and some predetermined matches will be classified as non conference games.

One of the noteworthy games will be the 101st showdown between BYU and Utah on November 9th, as are fierce rivals. This will mark the first time in 9 years that they will compete as members of the same conference.

On November 30th, Arizona will welcome Arizona State for the Territorial Cup, a long-standing rivalry that dates back to 1899. Meanwhile, on the same day, Baylor will make their first visit to Houston since both schools were members of the Southwest Conference in 1995. And on October 26th, Kansas will travel to Kansas State for the Sunflower Showdown.

The games that were originally planned to be held between Arizona and Kansas State, as well as between Baylor and Utah, will now be played as non conference games in order to honor the previous agreements.

The commencement of conference play for the 29th season of Big 12 football will occur on Sept. 14 with a game between TCU and UCF.

Currently the dates for many planned games have not been finalized. This means that they may still be chosen to be broadcasted on a national level, either on Thursday or Friday evenings.

The conclusion of the conference games is set to take place during Thanksgiving weekend, with a total of eight games planned.
